Owen is married to Salomé and they both share a love for camping and outdoor activities. Owen's vibrant personality and excellent communication skills have been nurtured over the years through his own business as a Consultant Trainer. Along with his passion for young people, he also brings a fresh energy and thinking to his appointment at Wortelgat.

Salomé is married to Owen and they have a blended family of 7 children and 1 grandson. She has spent the last few years working in the hospitality sector as well as a counsellor and masseuse. Salomé is a servant leader with a firm calling to impact people's lives with the Gospel. She is tenacious, highly committed and rises to every occasion.

Maintenance
After completing his law studies, Christo began his career working for the Reserve Bank, until he moved to Hermanus in 2017 where he became known as Mr. Fixit. He worked as maintenance manager of the Bredasdorp Pavilion Mall, until his employment as Maintenance Manager on the Wortelgat farm. He is a real problem solver, with a don’t give up attitude in tackling any task. He now stays at Tolbos with his wife Charlene and the 3 children.

AD was born in Gatyana in the Eastern Cape and moved to the Stanford area in 1997 seeking work. He began on the Wortelgat farm in 2007. He plays a critical role in supporting our maintenance team in finding leaks and cutting stone for our development projects. AD is consistent in his dealings with others, and loves being here as a member of the Wortelgat maintenance team. He is married and has three children.

Danny is one our longest serving staff members, with 18 years experience working on the Wortelgat farm. Born in Caledon, he moved to Stanford as a child where he grew up on the Blueridge farm. His knowledge of how things work at Wortelgat is invaluable, anything from taps to pipes. This makes him critical to the maintenance team, especially when looking for water leaks, a task he and AD tackle with great enthusiasm.

Fondly known by all as Mama Gertie. She began working in Stanford as
housekeeper for several private individuals. She and her husband have five sons, whom she loves and will give anything for. Gertie is hardworking and a real “dustbuster”, no cobweb can get her down. She loves teasing and laughs with great enthusiasm when someone shares a good story.

Thabiso started at Wortelgat in 2015. She says that the amazing team here has made this the best time of her life. Thabiso is excited about the changes envisioned at Wortelgat. She is married to Loyiso and they have three children.

Zelda ,a single mother of three, gained her cooking and baking skills while working at restaurants in both Stanford and Grabouw. She sees her role at Wortelgat as an extension of her calling to reach youth. She is a prayer warrior and serves in her local congregation reaching out to young people experiencing trauma. Zelda, is a real people's person, always happy and ready to share a word of encouragement to all whom she meets.

Celiwe (known to us all as Celina) joined the full time catering and housekeeping staff at Wortelgat in 2018. She learned her cooking skills while working at a local coffee shop in Stanford. She is a member in her local church where she supports her husband as a Pastor. They have two girls and one son. Although quiet, Celiwe loves laughing and shares many stories of her time at Wortelgat with great fondness.

Nadia’s journey with Wortelgat started in 2016 after she had attended the Emerging Facilitators Camp the previous year. She thoroughly enjoyed her time as a facilitator and was given leadership responsibilities in her second service-year.

David is married to Ronelle and blessed with four boys. As a devoted Christian he believes that the Gospel is the answer to all of life, in particular to ethic reconciliation, social, economic, and nation-building.
He is currently employed as Chief Operations Officer for Every Nation Church Cape Town and Southern Africa. He holds a PHD from NWU.

Wim is a medical doctor and married to Bertha. They have three adult children, who all love Wortelgat, and four grandchildren. They lived in Rwanda for 14 years as medical missionaries with the Church Mission Society. At present Wim works at Hermanus Provincial Hospital and at Stanford. He is also involved with eye clinics in the Overberg district.

Jurgens (MA, BTh, D Litt) was a Dutch Reformed Church pastor and then professor of Practical Theology and Missiology at Maties University for the past 45 years. He is involved in networking theological schools in Africa, travels a lot in the continent, and coordinates a number of development projects.

Renita is a physiotherapist in private practice in Stellenbosch since 1993. As a granddaughter of one of the founding members of Wortelgat she has had a personal involvement at Wortelgat from a young age and continues to have a passion for the extension of God's Kingdom.

Murray has been coming to the Cliffs since his childhood as part of the Annual Hermanus Camp. Now he is an advocate, sometime acting judge, and married with three grown children. Murray enjoys the beautiful scenery at Wortelgat and serves as a trustee.

As a lawyer, Stpehan has been in private practice for more than 29 years. He has been a Trustee since 1999, representing the Student Christian Organisation. He lives in Guildford, is married to Audrey, and they have adult triplets.

Sulinda is married to Corrie Muller and they have 3 sons aged 24, 22 and 15 years. Her heart is for the body of Christ to take hands and encourage each other to find their true identity in Christ and fulfil their God given destiny. As the owner of Malaki clothing store and Second Chances in Stellenbosch she is doing just that.

Prof.Shantelle Weber is married to Brandon and together they share two daughters, Shannon and Ashleigh. She is a senior lecturer in the Department of Practical Theology and Missiology at Maties University. She is also the Director of Uzwelo Youth Development. She has a passion for the youth in South Africa and empowers them through youth leadership programmes.
